13th-Mar-2009 11:02 am - Canadian Etsy Love: Halifax

A dear friend of mine lives in Halifax and I'm hoping I might be able to visit her in sometime in the summer over there! Its been a while but I've also been swamped lately and haven't had the chance to catch up with her =( If you see this, I do miss you and will be in touch as soon as I can!

Ooooh these little zip bags are so awesome!! I love how the felt makes each floral spray look so natural and organic! Loving the colour combos very much. =D

So so cute, this little woodland chipmunk! Yana Movchan's attention to detail is clear, making her paintings come to life!
12th-Mar-2009 10:23 am - what's your sign?

I really love making these floral toggle necklaces, I think they've become my 'thing' that I do. The lines are now both fully launched online and on Etsy

as promised back in mid February, most necklace lengths (other than layered style and long necklaces) allow you to choose LENGTHS! Call me selfish, but I make things to fit me (I use it as a standard) - which doesn't make sense of course! Take a gander! Which reminds me I need photos for my sections...*adds to my to-do*
11th-Mar-2009 11:22 pm - sometimes I feel dumb
pardon the delay of this post - that goes along fully with Tuesday's scrambling post...but anyway, honestly sometimes I feel dumb, despite watching CNN (though its got too much of a US-central spin on things) or other news on occasion, that only really helps me with recent happenings of the world and not so much maybe WHY these recent events are occuring - for that you need to know a little about history (a subject that bores me a little, to be honest) I need something quick and painless...

Anyway, it'd be good for me to read something that gives me the gist of everything because I'm also lazy! I'm not promoting these or anything, but they might be good candidates:

from National Geographic (the pretty pictures will keep me entertained!)

The title of this book already sounds like its made for someone like me LOL

I think this will help! From now on, I'm going to try and read up on famous/influential people every so often. Its kind of funny that Chris Brown happens to be one of the top stories 'In The News', I don't know what to think about that, everything is still up in the air with that incident - but I still love his music!
10th-Mar-2009 11:59 am - scrambling
oiii I couldn't get any orders out yesterday cuz I started getting that achy-all-over feeling and my throat hurt.. =( it has been a busy busy week, last week and this week trying to photograph as many new pieces as I can and filling in wholesale orders - I think stores are preparing for the new spring season or something! Oh my goodness. Not to mention I'm still trudging through my spreadsheets, damn shift in linked cells...

Shop updates! I made a new banner!!

This white one was supposed to match my backgrounds back when I photographed against white, but I've been pretty happy with the black background and my banner started looking a little out of place! The little lady on the left will be missed... my parents said she looked like a pregnant lady =S

This whole week I'll be listing new designs, I've got a new collection of necklaces to be launched this week! It is going to be a surprise, so I've kept the preview small ;)

There are 12 different ones, guess what it is! hehe actually you can sort of see it... LOL
9th-Mar-2009 11:21 am - pick me up mondays: an apple a day

I love apples, and I really do eat one every day! Back in school I always had my 10pm apple, I never really followed the no-eating-3-hours-before-bedtime rule (though I doubt I slept at 1am either anyways!) or was that 6 hours? Hmm.. Anyway, I love apples as my night time snack, they're full of vitamins, fiber and taste amazing! Apples that I love: gala and fuji. Apples that I hate: red delicious (so powdery..blech..) Apples that are soso: granny apples (good for when I feel like eating sour apple candy!)

This isn't all about apples, but eating right! I try my best to fill myself with more fruits and veggies than grain products like rice/bread/pastas. I'm a total cookie monster, so I'm lucky that my favourite kind happens to be healthier than most - the oatmeal raisin cookie! *drool... Despite trying to eat healthy though, I must admit I can polish off a big bag of chips in less than a day. Its gross I know, but soooo good! I haven't done that in a while though and don't plan to! I'm also known for never drinking any water too. I'm like a camel haha So I've been trying to drink enough fluids as well.

It doesn't take too long to make a healthy meal - though I'm still learning how! Having an efficient kitchen (organized, proper utensils, counter space etc) helps tremendously. Less TV dinners, less eating out and less processed snacks (I love snacking on granola, this recipe by Kathleen Daelemans has got to be the easiest and simplest ever).

A killer combination with vanilla yogurt.

Take care of yourself! Exercise would be good too ;) baby steps...one thing at a time.
6th-Mar-2009 10:28 am - Canadian Etsy Love: Montreal
Its been years since I've been to Montreal and all I remember is that it was a beautiful place and I ate yummy crepes at some famous creperie =) I'd love to go back someday soon! Maybe when it gets a little warmer hehe Every so often, I'll see an Etsy shop that jumps out at me and oftentimes, they're from this amazing city!

Mooka Soap

Jasmine and Calendula, $3
These Jasmine scented bath bombs look good enough to eat!

Asil Art

Crimson Harvest, $440
I'm no art connoisseur, but there's something about this painting that I just love! Its probably the colours, the three bobbles, the dripping sky and faded bars on the left. There's always something new when I look at it!

le ptit papillon

Mobile Rain of Colors, $15
So sweet and simple for a children's bedroom, I love the pink orange and yellow for girls and the yellow green and blue for boys!

Little Houses

Birch Top, $80
Put together and sophisticated, with just a slight amount of ruffle.

Swinging at Tibidabo, photo print $30
bomobob's carnival collection, so whimsical and reminds me of the 50s!

Gold and White Feather Necklace, $40
I loved this shop since I first laid eyes on it! I'm a fanatic and this light and airy necklace is perfect for me. Asymmetrical? check! nature inspired? check! unique? big check!

Kerry loves Montreal =)
Stay tuned next week for Halifax!
5th-Mar-2009 12:01 pm - overcast!
must make this short and sweet - I'm still chugging away at getting my spreadsheets in order (I am hating it!!) and trying to get it all done by at least this weekend. But its finally overcast after 3 beautiful sunny blue sky-ed days! I'm taking a break from the chore of spreadsheets and spent all morning snapping some photos of some new pieces, and some old ones that need to be re-done! Tomorrow will be a good photo day too - YAY!!

New jewelry will remain a surprise - that and I haven't photoshopped them yet but I have felt the need to de-stash again!

On a side note, I was looking at my February Etsy bill the other day and I did pretty well!! AND I only renewed 8 times. That feels amazing. I've been hesitating to renew my listings because of the new way that Etsy lists things, in batches. Is there even a point in renewing so much anymore? I guess you stay at the top of searches, which is primarily how I shop. Search keywords, refine, refine, refine - not this not that until I narrow it down to something reasonable.
4th-Mar-2009 11:42 am - stacy and clinton - I need you!!

I just came to the realization that I always wear PRETTY MUCH. the same things all the time. My wardrobe staples are tank tops, hoodies and jeans. Not that there's anything wrong with that, its typical attire of a university student, but I'm freshly graduated so now would be the perfect time to get a new wardrobe! I came to the epiphany that I've established a teeny tiny bit of the mindset of my mother - if it fits, its fine! (Though her idea is much more extreme, giant bat-wing sweaters and stirrup tights from the 80s still fit, just as long as it goes over the head and covers what it needs to) Sure my hoodies fit (properly!) but it seems to be the only thing I wear - easy layering right?

I have a pretty good idea of what I'd like to wear (I think), I don't consider myself to be a girly girl, but I'm drawn to ruffles and that whole romantic look! How does that even make sense... I LOVE the work of Bonzie though that would be saved for special occasions. I love the tailored Victorian look of Gloomth, a Canadian btw! But to make it a wearable almost everyday look, I'd have to go with Sarah Seven. Her ruffle dresses are all so pretty!!

BUT. I never wear skirts/dresses - the moment I'm in one, I feel ultra formal or like everyone is staring at me for showing my legs or something! This goes for shorts too.

My bf has also noticed that I stopped carrying purses. I carry this wallet that I bought from Hollyhawk (also a Canadian *nudge nudge!) with me everywhere. I mean EVERYWHERE. The floret print is wearing off...LOL but its the PERFECT size. I love it and get compliments on it wherever I go, and I really don't need much more than this! Got my cards, cash, coin purse, chapstick AND gloss, and my keys, all in that tiny wallet. Cell phone in either my pant pockets or coat pockets.

Though come summer I think I'll have to start carrying one again because I also carry the bf's phone and wallet... haha right now its winter, so he puts everything in his pockets. I have no idea what else to put in a purse if I had those oversize ones! They're pretty, but mine would be completely empty. What do you put in your purse? =S

I need help. LOL. Its not only a skirt thing, its an everything thing. Someone just give me a push and tell me that hoodies and jeans aren't the be all and end all of clothing!! I'm NOT giving up my denim though - that would be sacrilegious - but would be open to occasionally wearing a skirt.
27th-Feb-2009 10:40 am - I See London, I See France
If you're a girl and a fan of Threadless, you'll love this cute intimate apparel line by I See France. The screenprinted images are adorable and original and great conversation pieces for sleepovers! We should really have more sleepovers with the girl friends =) why do we stop doing that when we get older? With very reasonable prices, $10 for tank tops, $5 for bottoms and $15 for the set, its hard to resist!

Fine Jung Woman

Contaminated Love

*    *    *

If you remember that vibrant green dress by KaliOseano from my Grammy style post, they are having a free shipping sale, THIS weekend only! TGIF! Need something to wear when you're out and about in the city? Vanessa and Lilie's dresses are PERFECT!

You're sure to stand out in this hot pink party dress! I love how the sheer fabric over the sequins gives it a subtle sparkle.

For those who fancy the neutral colour palette, this demure pearl embellished brown dress is both romantic and the shorter length plays up the fun factor!

25th-Feb-2009 03:44 pm - my office "chair"

wow. super delayed post - been busy destashing! Since I sit at the computer all day, I figure I might as well try and get a workout out of it all =D Must balance out all those cookies I've been making and eating lately - oh and the Popeyes last night for dinner...whoever invented that is an evil genius! Anyway, I think it really has helped me though oftentimes I find myself standing in front of the computer now instead of sitting, but hey standing burns a few more calories too no? ;)

Back to work!
